Jane Austen Jane Austen?(16 December 1775?– 18 July 1817) is a woman writer in British literature history from the end of the 18th century to the early of the 19th century. She was born in a family of parish priest and educated primarily by her father and older brothers as well as through her own reading. Austen began her artistic career at the young age until she died. During Austen’s lifetime, she wrote six major novels, Sense and Sensibility?(1811), Pride and Prejudice?(1813), Mansfield Park?(1814)?, Emma?(1816), and the two novels published after her death, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion. Jane Austen was an English novelist whose realism, biting social commentary and masterful use of free indirect speech, burlesque, and irony have earned her a place as one of the most widely read and most beloved writers in English literature. The theme of Austen’s works are most about the daily life of the middle class in the township, and through the love or marriage they reflect the contradictions of British society in the late 18th century and early 19th century. In Austen’s works, there are many comedy scenes to show the irony of the stupidity, selfishness, and overconfidence.? Austen’s works critique the novels of sensibility of the second half of the eighteenth century and are part of the transition to nineteenth—century realism.1 Her novels inherit and develop the tradition of superior realism, make preparation for the climax of realistic novel, and played an important role for connecting the two. B. Emma Emma is a novel by Jane Austen, first published in December, 1815. It is a story about the dangerous and misconstrued romance. In fact that the author provides two sides of common themes.
