His words have expounded the importance of interest clearly. Interest makes people try hard to know a certain thing and love a certain activity with the aggressive motion of mental tendency, which pushes people to carry on the activity actively. That is the most active and internal motive. The strong interest can foster the students’ desire of knowing something, stirring up their strong study motive, urging them to study hard. Referring to the regulation of teaching activity, the student is the main part of study. During the teaching activity, not only the knowledge’s acquirement but also the ability’s formation can’t go on without the students’ participation. Therefore it’s important to explore the student’s interest, stimulate the students’ participation motive. They are also the key of mastering English. That’s to say, in order to make students learn actively and obtain the good study result, we should develop the student’s interest, which is the premise and the assurance of learning English well.?A relevant investigation to most junior middle schools shows that, the higher grade some students go up, the less interest they have in learning English. This phenomenon exists on nearly all the students below average. And there is a notable difference for interest between the junior students of Grade 1 and Grade 3. In fact, if someone failed to learn English well in Grade 1, he would loose the motive of continuing to learn English easily. What’s worse, he would give it up in Grade 3. As a result, the phenomenon of polarization will increase seriously. Therefore, stirring up the students’ interest is a big and emergent task facing us. That’s also a big challenge.II. The Definition and Distinction of InterestIn the domain of education for
