Abstract The 9th Conf erence on/ Traffic and Transportation Forum 7+ 10 w as around the theme of m echanism of
traff ic congestion in the Metropolis of China. It discussed the forming m echanism and propagation characteristics of
the bottleneck of traffic congestion, nonlinear dynam ic characteristic of traff ic flow , time- spatial complexity and struc-
ture evolution of urban traff ic system , operational optim ization control of urban traff ic system , traff ic inf ormation inte-
gration and computational experiment s, etc. It also analyzed the characteristics of urban traff ic in China, described
the importance of scientif ic research w ith the combination of Chinese reality, and the case of the operation of Beijing
