Language points 2. “Lennie” and “Lincoln” In the test A Miserable, Merry Christmas, “Lennie” is the pet name for the boy. His real name is “Lincoln”. “Lennie” is usually a diminutive for “Leonard”, but because “Lincoln” really has no diminutive form, the family may have just decided to call him “Lennie” which sounds somewhat like “Lincoln”.
