It has been estimated that rock cl_imbing is now enjoyed by more than 9 million people inthe U.S. each year. Study findings revealed a 65 percent increase in the number of patients that weretreated in U.S. emergency departments for rock climbing-related injLu:ies between 1991 arid 2008. ????? The study; published in the online issue of the American Jou.rrud of Preven,tive Medicine, foundthat about 40,000 patients were treated in U.S. emergency departments for rock climbing-relatedinjuries between 1991 and 2008. The most common types of rock climbing-related injuries werefractures(骨折) and sprains(扭伤). The parts under knees were. the common part of the body to beinjured(46 percent) while the ankle was the most common body pan to be injured(19 percent). Climbers in the study rariged in age from 2 t0 74 years: with an average age of 26 years. The studyalso found that women took up a quarter of the injuries. ?????
