Internal order configuration There are some areas within SAP, such as const center accounting, in which configuration can be done in any sequence. But in other areas, the type of information required for a certain step must first be completed in a prior step. Internal order development is one of those areas in which a specific order of configuration must be followed for the object to be properly configured. From the developer’s viewpoint, the order type is the central figure in internal order accounting. The order type determines what information can be held, how it will be settled, planning and budgeting parameters, authorizations, what order master data is required, and how it will be displayed on the screen. Controlling area maintenance for internal order accounting Like each module in controlling, internal order accounting must be activated for the controlling area prior to beginning development. Order settlement configuration Settlement can be described as the process of moving costs incurred on a sender object to one or more receiving objects. In the case of an internal order, costs are incurred on the order through goods issues or receipts, journal entries, internal activity allocations, or other settlements and settled to a cost center, order, fixed asset, or account, just to name a few. All offsetting postings on the sender are posted automatically, and the receiver will retain the history of the posting even if it in turn makes another settlement. The account utilized in the posting activity is dependent upon the settlement structure configuration and what type of account activity is maintained. Settlement cost element Settlement cost elements are used in a specific case to act as the sender and receiving account during settlement. If settlement is activated within the settlement assignment, either a primary or secondary cost element will be needed to facilitate the posting. The receiving object will determine whether you use a primary or secondary eleme
