Abstract: T his paper intends to discuss some basic theoretical issues for the revision of the China M ar itime Code .
Taking into account of the provisions contained in Chapter I on General Provisions of the Maritime Code this paper,
focuses on the issues in relation to the legislation objectives, relationship adjusted and classification of the Chinese
maritime law. It is hoped that this paper may promote and stimulate the study and discussion by the Chinese
maritime law circles on the basic theoretical issues of the maritime law so that more reference materials may be
provided for the future revision of the Maritime Code.
