The basic concepts and the entity of Polychromatic Sets ( PS) were introduced, and the isolated operation of PS was classified into two types: entirety isolated operation and function isolation operation. On the basis of the entity and isolated operations of PS, the general framework of work flow resource management and allocation was proposed and the information model of workflow resource was estab lished. The proposed workflow resource management and allocation approach based on isolated operations of PS was studied in detail. Together with an example, a prototype system of workflow resource management and allocation based on PS isolated operations was developed to illustrate the validity and feasibility of the proposed approach.
