A study wasmade on the requirement of concerted application of these subsystems for the soundnessmonitoring of long-span bridges. Itwas suggested thatLab indows/Lab VIE is to be used as themain system to controlthe running of the subsystems and the interchanging of information among them. The database of adata menagement system isused as the central database, which stores not only the information of the bridge structure, but also themonitoring information. Itwas suggested to use Brower/Server system to connect allthe subsystems, and an open, real tmi e and online soundnessmonitoring system based on the newt ork platform can be formed. Finally, a soundnessmonitoring system for a three-tower cable-stayed bridgewascited asan example.
