The lipid solubles w ere extracted w ith a mixture of chloro- form and methanol ( 1B 4, V/ V) . T he extract w as dried by a gentle stream of nitrogen, and the residue w as diluted in methanol for analysis. HPLC w as performed on a reversed-phase C18 column using isocratic elution w ith a mixture of methanol and w ater w ith the addition of - 1 0. 1% acetic acid and 5 mmol # L ammonium acetate.
