R. hina) A bstrac t: O bjec tive To evaluate the effect of Br an artificial disc rep lacement on cervical sp inal cord injur w ithout rad iographic abnorm alit . M ethod s 50 patients who under w en t cervical disc rep lacem ent from December, 2003 to De cember, 2005 w ere investigated ( M ale 35, Fem ale 15). The age of patien ts was from 25 to 73, the average is 48. 9. A m ong those patients, 5 had traum atic experience. The clinical outcom e w as compared between the tw o groups. Re su lts Follow up period w ere from 36. 0 to 55. 6 months after operation, averaged 42. 9m onths. The range ofm otion in sagittal d i rection of the operated level before operation and at the tmi e of final followup had no sign ificant difference bewt een the two groups. In the traum atic group, therew as no evidence for instabilit at the operated level before operation and at the tmi e of final followup. Compared w ith the no traum atic group the preoperative and postoperative JOA socre w ere less, but the am eliorate rate of JOA score had no statistic difference betw een two groups.
