Abstract: Objectives Flow cytometry (FCM) was employed in this paper to detect the expression of protein △Np73 in squamous cell carcinoma of the esophagus, with the aim to explore the correlation of △Np73 to clinopathological data. Methods A cohort of 47 cases of esophageal cancer were selected from Department of thoracic surgery, the fourth hospital of Hebei medical university. Monoplast suspension was prepared. Then, the cells were immunofluorescent stained by polyclonal antibody against △Np73. Finally, the cells were analysed by FACS-420 flow cytometer. Results The ratios of △Np73 positive expression in the tissues of esophageal cancer were higher than that of paracancer tissues and normal tissues (all P0.01). The expression of △Np73 were correlated with the depth of caner infiltration (P=0.043, Chi square test; P=0.007, student t test). However, it has no correlations with size, differeciation, the status of lymph node metastasis and TNM stage (all P0.05). Conclusion The expressing change of △Np73 gene many have some correlation with the occurrence and development of esophageal cancer.
