An analysis of the incom e status of fisher folk s in China

Abs tract: A ccord ing to the statistics and the surveys of the income ofCh inese fisher folks, the income status of
Chinese fisher folks is analyzed in the paper. The statistical data analysis show s that: 1) A s aw hole in Ch ina,
the per capita net income average of Fisher H ouseholds is h igher than that of RuralHouseholds, but much
low er than the per capita disposable income ofU rban Households; 2) recently, specially after 2000, the per
capita net income of F isher H ouseholds show ed a year-by-year dow ntrend on the rate of increase, and w as
dropping in some regions; 3) the per capita net incom e of FisherH ouseholds in coastal regions is h igher than
that in inland regions, and is qu ite different from each other. The surveys results show that: 1) in some coastal
fish ing regions, the per capita net incom e of FisherH ouseholdsw as falling to be low er than the per cap ita net
income of RuralHouseholds; some fisher folks w ere living in need, and run into debt; 2) the fishers in
coastal developed regions live in dire need caused by h igh living expend iture; 3) the income of fishers in
inland fish ing regions is low; fisher folks w ere living in need. Reasons for above m entioned status o
