For immediate release – Monday 6 January 2014 Diabetes UK launches partnership with Solihull CCG to improve care for people with diabetes in the area Diabetes UK has announced a partnership with the NHS in Solihull to improve diabetes care in the area by involving people with diabetes in decisions about the care that they receive. Through the Improving Local Services Together Project, which is funded by the Department of Health, Diabetes UK will be supporting Solihull CCG to work with people with diabetes in the area to help shape local services. The charity hopes the partnership will help Solihull CCG to deliver quality services that reflect the needs of local people with diabetes. Diabetes UK and Solihull CCG are keen to get local people with diabetes involved in the project and are calling on people living with diabetes and their carers to take part and help improve the services they use. Peter Shorrick, Diabetes UK Regional Manager for the Midlands, said: “We are pleased to announce this partnership with Solihull CCG and we welcome the work they are doing to improve diabetes healthcare. Diabetes is one of the biggest challenges we face and its growing prevalence is placing great pressure on the NHS in the area. “Through this project, we hope to meet this challenge by helping make sure people in Solihull are at the heart of the services they use. This is a great opportunity for people with diabetes in Solihull to really help shape local services and we would encourage anyone affected by diabetes to get involved.” Bernadette Faulkner, Commissioning Redesign Manager for LTC Solihull CCG, said: “Solihull is very excited about working with Diabetes UK to improve the services we provide for our population.? Although we have always sought the views of our patients, through working with Diabetes UK we can utilise their expertise in reaching all who use our services.?
