( School of Chemical Engineering , A nhui University of Science and Technology, H uainan A nhui 232001) Abstract: omposite potassium titanoniobates with different molar ratio of Nb and Ti w ere synthesized by the + solidstate method and then modified by Ag ionexchange. The adsorption feature and photocatalytic oxidation activi ty for dimethyl sulfide (DMS) and ethyl mercaptan ( EM) on the asprepared catalysts w ere evaluated by means of in + frared spectroscopy. The results showed that the interaction betw een DMS and the Ag modified potassium titanonio bates was w eaker than that of EM. As the Nb/ Ti molar ratio increased, the interaction betw een the catalyst and DMS ( or EM) was strengthen. DMS w as converted to sulfoxide, sulfone, and sulfate, and EM was converted to sulfonate and monodentate sulfate under ultra light radiation.
