Since the 1994 Northridge earthquake and the 1995 Hanshen earthquake, a ide variety of different moment connections
have been developed, the dog-bone connection as a particularly popular moment connection. Based on the experimental
investigation of dog-bone connections of real structure, the performance of this kind of connection under simulated earth-
quake load is discussed. The experimental results sho that, it can improve the performance of connection by trimming
portions of the beam flange near the beam-column connection ith reasonable dimension, hich can enhance the ductility
and have little influence on the stiffness and the strength of connection. T hen a design method of dog-bone moment con-
nections is put for ard based on this experiment research and numerical analysis.
