Meanwhile, the western countries could offer some help in theories and methodologies.This paper briefly retrospected the relative researches on the commercial space in China and the western countries since 1920s.In terms of the researches contents, it could be divided into two parts: commercial spatial structure and spatial selection, which coexisted with and infiltrated into each other. With the development of methodology, five schools have been formed successively on commercial spatial structure researches in western countries. And the researches of spatial selection consisted of location selection and market analysis.
