I’d also like to thank all the teachers conducting lectures to us. 内容提要 言简意赅、形象生动的英语习语承载着英语国家的文化信息,它是语言中不可缺少的一部分,其形式的固定性、意义的整体性以及产生环境的特定性成为英语学习者的难点。本论文旨在对英语习语产生的文化背景作一些探索,研究习语及文化的相互联系，以便我们能从语言中理解历史与文化,从历史与文化中学习语言。 经过具体分析，笔者得出了结论：文化背景的学习对英语学习来说非常重要同时希望其他学习英语的人能从本文中获益。 全文主要分为三部分： 第一部分 提出问题，引出论点。讨论习语的概念,以及它和语言，文化的内在关系。并且说明这些关系是密不可分的。习语的学习也很重要，而文化背景的学习应贯穿于习语乃至英语学习的整个过程中。 第二部分 引用了大量的实例来说明习语和文化背景之间的联系，从地理、历史、风俗习惯、宗教、文学五个方面分析文化因素对英语习语形成的影响。 最后得出结论：要掌握好一门外语，必须同时学习孕育出这种语言的文化背景。 关键词：习语；；文化Abstract English idiom is an important part of English language that is characterized by its profound meaning and special background. As it possesses a unique way of expression, those who learn English as a foreign language find it difficult to get a good understanding. This paper probes into the culture background of English idioms and the relationship between idiom and culture so that we can get more information from the language and learn English Language much better from history and culture. Through some analysis, the conclusion is reached that the learning of cultural background has an impact on English learning. The writer of this paper hopes that the other English learners can benefit from this conclusion, The paper is divided into there parts. In part one, the main problem and argument is presented: the internal relationships among idioms, languages and culture are discussed. Moreover, these relationships are too close to be separated. Idioms’ learning should be regarded as a very important homework.
