Objective: On the basis of the literature study, a deep and comprehensive
exploration to the connotation of the collateral theory was performed, and its role in
oculopathy, especially in Diabetic Retinopathy (DR) was illustrated. Under the guidance
of the collateral theory, the clinical efficacy of DR was observed, which may provide a
theoretical guidance and a clue to the clinical work in dealing with DR.
Methods: 41 patients with DR are divided into test group(n=21) and control
group(n=20) randomly. The test group was treated with modified ShengMaiyin combined
with DAHUANGZHECONG PILL and Acupuncturing, while the Control group was
treated based on syndrome differentiation and treatment. After 60 days, the items
(symptoms、vision、signs of fundus、Blood
Lipid、Blood Rheology)were compared to
those before the treatment. Results: The clinical study showed that ①the modified
ShengMaiyin with DAHUANGZHECONG PILL and Acupuncturing can improve the
ocular symptoms obviously and the efficiency is better than control group(P0.05)②vision
is improved, and the effection is better than the control group(P0.05) the absorption of
blooding and exudation of retinopathy is done much better than the control
group(P0.05)④Blood Lipid is decreased much better than the control group(P0.05)
⑤Blood Rheology is decreased uncommonly. There is significant difference between the
test group and the control group.(P0.01)Conclusion: Modified Sheng Maiyin combined
with DAHUANGZHECONG PILL and Acupuncturing had good therapeutic efficacy in
DR,its excellent rate is 38.1℅.Its effective rate is52.4℅. The total effective rate is 90.5℅.
Its efficacy is much better than control group 50℅(P0.01).
Conclusion: Treating DR under the guidance of the Collateral Theory, could
effectively improve the clinical eye symptoms, vision, faciling the absorp
