Effects of profile of contact surfaces on the stress distribution
for tenon jointing in blade disk assemblies

Abstract: To investigate and improve t e ig stress gradient near t e edges of contact
zone in conventional tenon jointing, several typical profiles of contact surface w ere analyzed
by means of finite element met od ( FEM) , indicating t at different contact profiles w ould
lead to different stress distributions. T en, a set of finite element models w it different
grids for dovetail attac ment w ere establis ed to analyze stress concentration effects, and im-
prove t e solving accuracy of contact stress. Different profiles of contact surface w ere c o-
sen. T e numerical solutions s ow t at arc/ line contact profile for two-dimensional ( 2-D)
will remove t e ig stress concentration, and arc/ arc one w ill furt er depress t e contact stress.
