* FTPM 7 MAJOR LOSSES Reduced Speed Losses Quality Losses Startup Losses Equipment Breakdowns Setup Adjustment Losses Tooling Losses Documented Stoppage/Idling Stoppages DEFINITION OEE is a measure of the ability of a piece of equipment to consistently produce product which meets Quality Standards at the designed cycle rate without disruption. It measures the Availability, Performance Efficiency, and Quality Rate of a machine. The Goal of the OEE Measurable is to provide shop floor groups with the process that will enable them to collect data on the “Major Equipment Losses”, analyze that data, and use it for continuous improvement. GOAL Availability Is the amount of time the machine was available to run compared to the amount of time it was scheduled to run. Availability = Operating Time / Net Available Time Net Available Time = Total Scheduled Time - Contractually Required Down Time Operating Time = Net Available Time - Down Time Example: A robot is scheduled to run for 480mins (Total Scheduled Time) minus Tea Breaks (Contractually Required Down Time) totaling 40 minutes making its’ Net Available Time 440mins. A breakdown occurs that stops the robot for 20mins (Down Time), the Operating Time here would be 420mins. To work out the Availability of this robot, we can now use the formula as follows: Operating Time 420mins Net Available Time 440mins = 95.45% Performance Efficiency Determines how closely a piece of equipment runs to its’ ideal cycle time. Performance Efficiency = (Ideal Cycle Time x Total Parts Run) / Operating Time Ideal Cycle Time = The designed (engineering standard) cycle rate of the equipment for a part using specific tooling Example: If the robot is designed to take 1min to run a part (Ideal Cycle Time) and has produced a total of 350 parts over a given shift (Total Parts Run) we can work out the Performance Efficiency of the robot by using the formula as follows: Ideal Cycle Time 1min x To
