E nglish readin g is th e m ost im portant w ay for the students in sen ior h igh schools to broaden th eir m inds, accum u late vocabu lary and gram m ar know ledge, equ ip th em selv es w ith sentence patterns and im prove th eir w riting sk ills as w ell. D evelop ing students reading com p etence is a top priority of E n glish teach ing aim s in sen ior h igh schoo l. H ow ever, th e read ing ab ility of m any stu dents is not satisfactory.
