The International Conference on Pressure Vessel Technology ( ICPVT) , held every four years , is a good
opportunity to view the world - wide new achievements and developing trends of pressure vessel technology , to
strengthen international exchange and cooperation in this area , and to advance China , s pressure vessel tech
nology as well. The ICPVT - 9 was held on 9～14 , April 2000 , Sydney , Australia. A nine - member delega
tion of China attended this conference. There are 12 papers presented to two plenary sessions and 154 papers
presented to several technical sessions. There are altogether 1723 A4 pages of papers in the two - volume pro
ceedings , covering all related aspects of pressure vessel technology , such as design , materials , manufacture ,
test , on - line monitoring and risk assessment. This paper is a review of the world - wide current status and
trends of the pressure vessel technology based on an analysis of the numerous papers , and will be published in
serial.
