It is the first period of this unit which covers two main parts: “Warming-up” and “Listening”. In the first part, it concludes some individual, pair activities to promote students’ knowledge about different festivals and practice their spoken English. In the second part, it provides three sections of listening texts about three foreign festivals in which the students can learn something about them and practice their listening ability. Unit14 Festivals Teaching objectives 1. Language Objectives (语言目标) Important words or phrases: festival, destruction, celebrate, symbol, know of, ask for, dress up… 2. Ability Objectives（能力目标） (1) Stimulate and cultivate students’ interests and their confidence in learning the language. (2) Help students develop good learning habits and form effective learning strategies. (3) Enhance students’ speaking and listening ability. 3. Moral Objectives（情感目标） (1) Get students to enjoy festivals and customs from different countries.
