At present, there is a certain gap in automation level between domestic paper industries and abroad. So design of papermaking system is crucial to the paper industry. There is a paper machine control system based on PLC has been designed in this paper. In the system, we use the S7-300 PLC as the control core, the ABB converter as drive unit, three-phase AC motor as execution unit. By PLC through the communication between Profibus-DP network and inverter to complete every transmission point start, stop, acceleration, deceleration, tight etc. And the development process of domestic and international paper industry also introduced in this paper, papermaking machine according to the system control requirements to determine the control scheme. The design of hardware circuit diagram of the control system, introduces its working principle, and the selection of the components, programming software based on Step7 and completed the system’s hardware configuration and control program. the design of the control system of paper machine based on PLC in this paper has advantages of simple structure, low cost, convenient control.
