第6章 Crediting Sources文献注释
本章主要规范如何承认他人对你研究工作的贡献,其中包括抄袭问题,以及如何正确使用引文(quotation)、正文中的文献引用(citing references in text)和设置参考文献列表(reference list)。
6.01 Plagiarism 抄袭
As stated in Chapter 1, Authors do not present the work of another as if it were their own work (p. 16). Whether paraphrasing, quoting an author directly, or describing an idea that influenced your work, you must credit the source. To avoid charges of plagiarism, take careful notes as you research to keep track of your sources and cite those sources according to the guidelines presented in this chapter (see also section 1.10).
6.02 Self-Plagiarism 自我抄袭
Whereas plagiarism refers to the practice of claiming credit for the words, ideas, and concepts of others, self-plagiarism refers to the practice of presenting ones own previously published work as though it were new. As noted in Chapter 1, The core of the new document must constitute an original contribution to knowledge, and only the amount of previously published material necessary to understand that contribution should be included, primarily in the discussion of theory and methodology (p. 16). Avoid charges of self-plagiarism by familiarizing yourself with the ethical standards regarding duplicate publication and the legal standards of fair use (see also section 1.10).
6.03 Direct Quotation of Sources 直接引文
引用原文时要在文中提供作者姓名、年份和引文页码,如果没有页码,说明是第几段(参看6.05节),然后在参考文献列表中给出完整的文献信息(例外情况参看174页关于正文中的文献引用规则的说明)。
如果引文少于40个单词,将引文融入正文中,用双引号标出引用的内容,如果引文在一句话中间,紧接在双引号后用括号提供引文出处的信息,如作者、年份、页码,然后再继续句子的剩余部分,除非句子意思的需要,否则不要用任何标点符号。
