Ab str act: The recent development of preparation, structures, properties and potential app lications of ex2
panded graphite are introduced. Chem ical preparation and electro2oxidation preparation methods are dis2
cussed and exp losion preparation method is especially recommended. M icrostructures, 42grade pore
classed by the formation characteristic and size ofpore are introduced based on structures and properties.
Its applications as adsorption mater ials in environm ent protection and biomedicine are introduced. Further
research direction is considered tobe the study of reaction m echan ism ofm icrostructures and properties of
the graph ite.
