The results show th t the moisture content, void r tio nd coefficient of perme bility for the soft soils in the underlying str tum of e stern bre kw ter decre se slightly fter construction, however, its mech nic l index nd microstructure do not deterior te, nd h ve the typic l fe ture of structur l soft soil comp red to the corresponding soft soils in se re . Therefore, the underlying soft soil still keep its structure int ct rel tively , nd h ve not been d m ged p- p rently under the lo ding of bre kw ter, nd c n be used s be ring str tum of bre kw ter.
