China Building Materials Academy, Beijing 100024) Abstract: Ecological status and development directions of cement industry in China are discussed in this paper. To improve the ecolog ical situat ion of the cement industry, the structure of products and the structure of the cement industry should be optimized. These optimizations include improvement of some small_scale cement plants to decrease the whole pollution level of the cement industry. Furt hermore, researches on high reactive clinker, high reactive fine admixture of concrete and low_calcium series cement should be emphasized, by which the ecological design of cement , to reduce consumpt ion and pollution of cement production and to improve the utilization efficiency of waste in cement production, can be realized. To produce low_calcium cement such as HBC would be benefit to t he ecological production of cement because the clinker can be burned in a relatively low temperature and can be prepared wit h many low quality raw materials.
