ME HODS T he strains w ere ident ified using Microscan-Autoscan-4 and PC21 multiplex-board. T he oxacillin MIC of staphylococci w ere det ected by E-test and using PCR t o detect mecA gene. RESUL S Among tot al of 472 strains, 1 6 strains w ere Stap hylococcus aureus ( M RSA 133 strains, M SSA 63 strains) and 276 CNS strains ( MRCNS 233 st rains, MSCNS 43 strains) ; M RSA and MRCNS had mecA gene by PCR det ection; t hese strains which had high drug- resistance to amoxicillin ( 1. 3%) , ampicillin( 5. 6%) , penicillin ( . 2%) and cefazolin ( 3. 5%) , low drug- resistance to rifampicin (22. %) , gentamicin (21. 7%) and vancomycin ( 0%) . CONCLUSIONS Drug-resistance of staphylococci is severe in our hospital. There is a good relation betw een mecA gene and oxacillin MIC. K
