METHODSI n v itr o models of P aer ug inos a biofilm w ere built up. The planktonic bact eria and P aer ug inos a biof ilms w ere exposed to different concentrations of imipenem and ceftazidime. T he quantitative analysis of B- lactamase w as undert aken. The class of B-lact amase was verified by modified cefoxitin three-dimensional t est. ESULTS Both P aer ug inosa biofilm and planktonic bacteria showed significant B- lactamase activity in the presence of antibiot ics. The maximal B-lactamase activities of both w ere significantly different w ith the stat istic method of test( P 0. 05) . TheB-lactamase induced w as found to be AmpCB-lact amase w ith modified cefoxitin three-dimensional test. CONCLUSIONS P aer ug inos a biofilm show ed st ronger ability for B-lactamase production induced by antibiotics than planktonic bacteria.
