Department of Civil EngineeringTsinghua UniversityBeijing 100084ChinaE-mail lzz13@mails.tsinghua.edu.cn Abstract Currently the application of BIM technology on structural design has not spread in Chinaand one of key reasons is the linking problems that physical models and analytical models cannot match perfectly. Revit structure and robot structural analysis are used to analyze a particular steel structure in Shanghai and compare the differences with the results of PKPM in mass and rigidity centers forces periods and inter-story displacements. It shows that BIM technology linking revit structure and robot structural analysis can be utilized to check structural design and component strength but cannot be applied to checking other aspects such as anti-seismic capacity. Finallythe methods and features of linking revit structure and PKPM by RStar CAD are discussed to provide suggestions for the structural design.
