The Teaching Materials; 2. The Students; 3. The Teaching Objectives; 4. The Teaching Focus and Difficulties; 5. The Teaching Methods, Study Methods and Teaching Aids; 6. The Teaching Procedures; 7. Lay-out on the Blackboard. The lesson will be presented in 7 parts: 1.1 Contents New Senior English for China Student’s Book 6, Unit 5 The Power of Nature, Using Language, Listening and Speaking 1. Teaching Materials 1.2 Status and Function The theme of this unit is disasters that are caused by natural forces. The teaching contents of the whole unit will be arranged as the following: 1. Teaching Materials Periods Teaching Contents Types of the Lessons 1st (SB) Warming Up, Pre-reading, Reading and Comprehending Input-based 2nd (SB) Learning about Language Intake-based ﹡3rd (SB) Using Language –Listening and Speaking Output-based 4th (WB) Reading Task, Listening Task and Speaking Task Output-based 5th (SB) Using Language –Reading and Writing Output-based 6th (WB) Writing Task and Project Integrated Using Language –Listening and Speaking is in the middle of the unit. It helps the students to understand the frightening experiences of a volcanologist, and encourage them to express their feelings and emotions of joy, fear, anxiety and surprise. 1. Teaching Materials 1.2 Status and Function Key words: volcanoes, frightening experiences emotion expressions 2. The Students The students in Senior 2: have a better understanding of some of the social issues; have learned about the dangers people face in a quake; are familiar with some of the listening skills; are not so confident when they speak English. 2.
