This paper addresses the assessment and prediction of electric vehicles. First, a basic model is proposed to prove that EV actually saves fossil fuels due to its various energy sources. Fossil fuels consumed by EVs only account for 1/11 of that by conventional vehicles under the same condition. Then AHP (Analytic Hierarchy Process) is introduced to perform a comprehensive comparison between EVs and conventional vehicles based on various aspects. The evaluation weights of the two kinds are 0.533 and 0.467 respectively, so EVs have a better performance than conventional vehicles and are worth for promotion. Also we estimate that after the widespread use of EVs, the total saved energy for the U.S. alone will be 293 billion kWh, and the direct economic benefits will be $18.166 billion.
