In the process of driving the reform and opening-up and the modernization construction, Mr. Deng Xiaoping inherited the ideas of socialinvestigation from the Marxism classical authors; on the basis of President Mao Zedong’s investigation and study of Chinese society, Mr. Deng did a deep study about China’s national condition, actual development and other national construction situations by attending conferences, visiting and using many other methods. Through all these work, Mr. Deng got a comprehensive understanding of China and even the world from different levels and various perspectives, so that he could study and find the rules to build socialism with Chinese characteristics on the standard of the times. The most distinctive character of what Mr. Deng’s social investigation idea shows out is the comprehensiveness,practicalness,mass foundation, openness and long-term perspective.
