On ba sis of the undercu tting con struction under shallow overbu rden of Yingkoudao station of p ha se 1 of Tianj in M etro located in soft and waterrich ground and the analysis on the re su lts of the mon itoring of the ground su rface d is p lacem en t, the ba sic p attern of the ground su rface disp lacem en t induced by undercu tting under shallow overbu rden is ob tained. Fu rthermore, techn ical m ea su re s to con tro l the ground deform ation s are recomm ended and fu lly app lied in the con struction of p ha se 1 work s of Tianj in M etro and good effects are ach ieved.
