Abstract: Based on the analysis of the characteristic of natural environment, soil and w ater con-
servation in the Beiluohe River Basin, using the data on rainfall, runoff and sediment, the paper
established a statistic model for the runoff and sediment under rain, and analyzed the cause of w a-
ter and sediment change in the basin. The results show ed that the sediment reduction of the Bei-
luohe River Basin is mainly in the upper reaches of the Liujiahe Station, in which the human ac-
tivities accounted for about 60%, and rainfall effects for 40%. The large amount reduction of run-
off took place mainly in the low er reaches of the Liujiahe Station, from the comparing betw een
human activities and rainfall effects, the rainfall effects accounted for about 60%~ 70% , and the
human aceivities for about 0%~ 40% .
Key words: w ater and sedimen
