Along w it h the extension o fpow er system and t he , enhancement o freceiving end capacity, the phenomena that the single phase short circuit current at the 220kV bus in 500 , kV substation w ill be larger than three phase short circuit will often occur and it will cause trouble in choosing 500kV 2010 related devices such as circuit breakers . In this paper t he / 180km , reason o frapid increase o fsingle phase short circuit current in 500kV substation is analyzed. Through the calculation it 8 , 23km; is proved that neut ral grounding by small reactance is an 270km , 6, 45km ; e ective measure to reduce the single phase short circuit , - 340km current and the calculation met hod o fthe zero sequence react ance after autot ransformer neutral grounding by small 425km, 67, 50 react ance being applied is expounded. 60km , KEY WORDS　autot ransformer ; neutral grounding ; small
