The microtiter plate provided in this kit has been pre-coated with goat-anti-rabbit antibody. Standards or samples are added to the appropriate microtiter plate wells with an antibody specific for IL-6 and Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) conjugated IL-6. The competitive inhibition reaction is launched between with HRP labeled IL-6 and unlabeled IL-6 with the antibody. A substrate solution is added to the wells and the color develops in opposite to the amount of IL-6 in the sample. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured. DETECTION RANGE 3.08 pg/ml-80 pg/ml. SENSITIVITY The minimum detectable dose of sheep IL-6 is typically less than 3.08 pg/ml. The sensitivity of this assay, or Lower Limit of Detection (LLD) was defined as the lowest sheep IL-6 concentration that could be differentiated from zero. It was determined the mean O.D value of 20 replicates of the zero standard added by their three standard deviations. SPECIFICITY This assay has high sensitivity and excellent specificity for detection of sheep IL-6. No significant cross-reactivity or interference between sheep IL-6 and analogues was observed.
