Methods Nineteen adult canines w ere all occluded w it h selfthromboses, then randoml divided into 6 groups. Group A w as the control group ( nonthrombol tic group) . Group B1, B3, B6, B9 and B12 were given intraarterial throm bol t ic therap w ith urokinase ( 10 000 IU/ kg) at 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 hours after embolism respectivel . Neurological deficit score w as evaluated on t he efficac and safet of thrombl sis therap . Digital subt raction angiograph and the ax ial diffusion weighted images w hich used to measure the ischemic area in each animal at 1, 3, 6, 9, 12, 24 hours respectivel w ere exam ined in all canines. One canine in ever group w as randoml selected t o be executed pathologic ex amination. Results Infarc t ion lesion appeared in ever animal. T he ratio of succesive recanalization in group B1, B3, B6 and B9 w as 100% , 100% , 100% , 66. 7% respectivel . Neurological deficit score in group A , B12 w as higher than group B1- B9 ( F = 11. 77, P 0. 0 1) . Significant differences on w idening of infarct ion volume w ere observed betw een the group B1- B9 and group A (P 0. 05) . Encephalic hemorrhage occurred in one canine in group B
