Abstract Gastric carcinoma is one of the most common malignant cancers in the digestive
system. Its incidence is the second highest among all tumors in China, and the mortality is the third highest.
Currently, gastric carcinoma is mainly treated with operations, however, its high relapse rate and death rate
after the operation remains a problem hard to solve. Peritoneum relapse is the main form of relapse after
the radical total gastrectomy. Tumor markers are used to make the prognosis and observe the changes of
tumors. Besides serum tumor markers, in-depth researches have been carried out on tumor markers in the
peritoneal lavage fluid and the ascites. The paper offered a comprehensive review of researches on the
clinical adoption of tumor markers in the peritoneal lavage fluid and the ascites for gastric carcinoma.
