T he adhesive streng th of the film s to the sub strates diam ond- coated tool w ear and surface roughness of the workp iece w ere further stu died by turn ing g lass fiber reinforced plastic cy lindrica l b ars. T he expermi en tal results show that the mi proved com bined pretreatm ent is m ore effective on enh ancing the adhesive streng th of diam ond film s to the substrate. T he lifet mi e o f the d iamond coated too ls sub jected to su ch pretreatm ent dem on strate up to 8 tmi es longer than uncoated ones.
