Fast Reading 教学基本内容（重点、难点）： Section A Learning the Olympic Standard for Love I. Background Olympic Games: The Olympic Games are a major international event including Summer and Winter Sports, in which thousands of athletes participate in a variety of competitions. Olympic Games are held every 4 years. Since 2008, host cities are contracted to manage both the Olympic and the Paralympic Games which are held immediately after Olympic Games. Originally, the ancient Olympic Games were held in Olympia, Greece. And the IOC (International Olympic Committee) was founded in 1894. Olympic symbols: Olympic rings: consists of 5 intertwined rings and represents the unity of 5 continents (America, Africa, Asia, Australasia, Europe). Color of rings: blue, yellow, green, black and red over a white field forms the Olympic flag. These colors are chosen because every nation had at least one of them on its national flag. Motto: Faster, higher and stronger; mascot (吉祥物): an animal or human figure representing the cultural heritage of the host country. II.
