The resuit showed that 16 sampies of river water couid be ciassified into 3 or 4 groups；14 sampies of tap or bottied drinking water ciassified into 4 groups. By compared descriptive statistics of VOCs with ciuster membership ，this numericai ciassification method couid aiso provide a resuit of guantitiveiy grading evaiuation on water guaiity. According to high or iow VOCs contents，16 river water sampies couid be evaiuated as three grades ：serious poiiuted ，medium poiiuted ，siight poiiuted ；And other 14 drinking water sam- pies aiso as three grades ：worse ，medium ，better. So chemometrics methods couid be used effectuaiiy to ciassify and guantitiveiy grading evaiuate on VOCs poiiution of different water sampies.
