Abstract Objective To explore th e valu e ofLDH to contrast and distingu ish b en ign pleural effu sion from m alignant pleural ef
fusion. M ethods Th e clin ical data of 30 cases ofm alignant pleural effu sionw ere comp ared to 28 cases of ben ign pleura l effusion and the
m easure of LDH w as studied as a malignant indicators. R esults LDH in the patientsw ith tuberculosis pleural effusion w as sign ificantl
low er than that in p atientsw ith m align ant pleural effu sion. Conclusion The LDH can be u sed as an indicator to distingu ish tub erculosis
pleural effusion from m alignant pleural effusions.
