This can do harm to communication system because of the resulting in extended radio path or changed radio path. We calculate the cut-off frequencies and critical angles at different area in China. Accordingly the minimum, m aximum, average and mode of cut-off frequencies and critical angles are given, and the results for surface ducts and elevat ed ducts are described respectively. The variations with month of different area are listed also. It concludes that the minimum of the cut -off frequencies is several MHz,the maximum of critical angles is as large as 0. 8. For the aver- ages the cut-off frequencies are above 30MHz mostly,the critical angles are not larger t han 0.4 in general.
