7) Impact Analysis While evaluating various technology options, a cost benefit analysis can be performed to identify the best possible option. The major steps in doing a cost benefit analysis are:
Identify the alternatives
State and estimate the costs (both one time as well as recurring costs)
List all the expected benefits, both tangible and intangible
Quantify the benefits in financial terms for tangible benefits
State the life of the benefits
Compare the alternatives
Recommend one of the alternatives
Document the expected outcomes, both quantitative and qualitative
8) Make/Buy Trade Off The choice of making or buying a technology is determined by many factors. These need to be considered before making such decisions.
