Objective To construct a geometric sku mode by using threedimensiona reconstruc tion , computer tomography scanning and rapid prototyping techno ogy and eva uate its signif icance in treatment of comp ex craniof acia trauma or esion. Methods A tota of 26 patients w ith comp ex craniof acia frac tures resu ted from trauma received continuous vo umetric scanning of their sku s and the data acquisition w as done by an e ectron beam computed tomography, by w hich reconstruction w as done and the obtained images saved as STL f i es. Then, the data w ere input into rapid prototyping machine AFS320QZ to make three dimensiona geometric mode . Direct measurement , designation, a op astic imp ant pref abrication and surgery simu ation cou d be done on this threedimensiona mode . Results A computeraided mode according to CT data cou d represent the threedimensiona anatomic structures and their re ationships precise y, as provided important basis for accurate understanding of disease status and reasonab e surgica p ans and he ped improve the curative effect of surgery.
