In 1891, the British founder of the firs tcommercial Rucker music began bristles processing. Later, as the interaction of origin, transit, center, sales, Si chuan bris tles firms and the developmen tof the industry underw en hrough four periods of f oreign monopoly, H uayang competition, the governmen tdirigisme, and free trade. In the course of expansion, the industry gradually became the im portan tpillars of Sichuan economy, particularly in w artime rear trade. However, as the initial processing of raw materi als Sichuan bristles industry, with low addedvalue, s trong outw ard orientation was vulnerable to f oreign competi tion, and weak to the impac tof standardization challenges.
