Torque Only Sensor Generic Specifications 1. General Function 3. Data and Control Interface This non-contacting torque sensor is used in vehicles featuring Output analog, PWM, SENT electrically controlled power assisted steering. The torque Bandwidth 1000 (±15%) Hz sensor measures the rotational deflection of a torsion bar CL=10nF, 3dB filter 1kHz that interconnects the input and output shafts of the steering Power Up Time 2 ms column. The torsion bar deflects in proportion to the amount CL=10nF, 3dB filter 1kHz of steering effort from the driver. The output signal from a Update Time (SAS) 0.1 ms torque sensor is fed into the steering ECU which controls the CL=10nF, 3dB filter 1kHz amount of steering assistance provided by an electrical motor. Latency Time 0.5 ms A high torque corresponds to a high level of resistance; a low CL=10nF, 3dB filter 1kHz torque to a low level of assistance. Input Voltage 5 (±0.5) V Traditional torque sensors used a clockspring to deliver power Over Voltage Protection ±14 V and transfer the signal; this development dispenses with the Dark Current
